Favorite Nail Products

Hello! I hope everyone is or had a great Memorial weekend! Today I wanted to talk about what my favorite nail products were.

I’m sure y’all have heard me say countless times about how I have dry skin, so I love using this Herbal E Oil on my cuticles! I’m trying to ball on a budget so I don’t really get my nails done unless I have a special event to go to- so I’d like to call myself a nail polish connoisseur haha! Nothing drives me crazy more than chipping a nail right after painting them. I work with my hands so I’m constantly putting nail polishes to the test.

The drug store nail polish that I love is by Sally Hansen and it’s the Miracle GelI’ve purchased 2 different colors in that line that I love. They don’t chip and they last for days. Like I said I work with my hands so if you don’t then I’m sure they’ll last longer for you. When I say they last for days that means without any chipping. They retail for around $8.

One brand that I absolutely love (if you can find it) is Odeme. I bought this green color called Oz in the picture and it lasts so dang long! One thing I was guilty of was not applying a base coat so when I took the polish off it stained my nails yellow-which freaked me out at first! It is such a pigmented color and even 1 coat looks really good. I bought this from a local boutique called Beehive which I’ll link here. If you want to purchase this brand of polish online you can click here to go to their website. This polish retails for $12.

I had acrylic nails for years, so my nails became very thin. One thing that I don’t see a lot is biotin in womens’ daily vitamins so when I saw these 365 vitamins from Whole Foods have them I had to get them! I’ve always had to buy a separate bottle of vitamins to help grow strong nails so I’m happy I found these.

I hope this helps y’all with any nail polish or nail care questions! It’s always great to get your moneys worth from nail polishes that don’t chip and to take care of your nails with vitamins!

Whole 30 recap

I finally ended whole30! I have to say it wasn’t as hard as I thought overall, but the first week and a half was hard for me. I did whole 30 only eating seafood as my meat. I think what I learned the most out of this was how much added sugar was in just about everything! As I only eat seafood, I rely on beans to give me some extra protein. That was hard for me-Because I couldn’t eat them.

The shame I feel now… I feel so guilty when I eat a non whole30 meal. I lost 10lbs on whole30 and I know I’ll kick myself in the butt if I gain it all back. I did whole30 to lose weight and to actually put good healthy food into my body. I told myself and my family I would still eat whole30 meals at home but when I go out to eat with the family I wouldn’t care- even though I’ll still try to eat somethings healthy.

One thing I hated during this was I’m the type of person to get bored with food easily. I would always look up new whole30 recipes so that I would stay on track. If you do decide to start whole30 and don’t know if you can eat a specific food just go to the whole30 website or google ‘can I eat …. On whole 30’.

-For breakfast I’d usually eat eggs (scrambled or hard boiled) with hot sauce, fruit bowl, or a smoothie.

-For lunch I’d try to eat shrimp/fish with veggies and fruit, baked potatoe (only 1-2 times a week), or a whole30 soup.

-I’d usually have fruit or a whole30 Larabar as a snack

-When I’d get home from work I’d normally just have fruit, smoothies, or eggs.

Some days I’d found myself not even hungry, I found it weird because other days I couldn’t wait to get home or to find something I could eat! After the second week I honestly felt great! Trust me when I say I am nor will I ever be a morning person, but one day I went to work at 7am and I swear I was in the happiest mood ever. Weird. I was usually happy throughout the day then would feel down once I got hangry but once I ate I was fine again!

Towards the last week and a half I was really feeling tired and just worn out. Not once during whole30 did I work out outside my usual routine. I have a fitbit and my daily goal is to burn 2,184 calories and I made my goal almost everyday from school life and work life-I was busy enough. I noticed my joints felt a bit better during whole30 because I get inflamed joints easily due to previous sports.

I highly recommend this to anyone! It’s hard at first but it’s super worth it! You really learn what is truely good for you and what foods your body actually needs and not wants! I ate half a cookie my first day off and had a horrible headache all day the following day. No thanks if that’s how I’ll react to it! I had no headaches at all during whole30 and I get them every now and then so to not have them was great!! I hope this helps anyone who wants to try it!

Whole 30- week 1

Let me start off by saying, when they said the first week was the hardest- they werent kidding. 3-4 days I was hangry and just wanted bread. I did my research weeks ahead of starting and I’m glad I did. I heard of Whole30 from Katey on her blog and I was willing to challange myself! I started it in hopes of getting back on track food wise.. Ever since November I felt like I was eating anything I wanted while rarely eating healthy stuff in between. I already gave up desserts, soda, and any sweet stuff like that for Lent so I decided I really needed to get healthier. I noticed that I feel less bloated and I think I’ve lost some weight already! However, the rule is you cant weigh yourself during this.. I might cheat on that in a few more weeks;)

The first day I had scrambled eggs for breakfast cooked with olive oil, for lunch I had shrimp seasoned with broccoli, and for dinner I had eggs yet again. I thought oh this will be easy! My biggest problem is that I hate eating the same stuff over and over again. After 1 week I can say I’m over scrambled eggs so I desperatly went to Pintrest in search of Whole30 recipes. One thing I have learned so far with this is how much added sugar is in things! I really learned about all the crap I was consuming.

Some days I felt mad because..well….no queso for a Texan is never fun, actually no Mexican food at all really because you cant eat most of it 😦 One morning I had to be at work at 7am and I was actually talking happily to people. That’s rare for me because I’m not a morning person at all! I was so happy to eat at lunch that I would spill my drink on me. The only things that have gotten me through my first week has been green apples, bananas, and the HEB sparkling natural flavored water. It’s what I look forward to. Many times I think I should just quit because it’s more convenient. Doing Whole30 cost more. I’m going to the rodeo Thursday and to Dallas this upcoming weekend and I keep telling myself to just stop now because it’ll be easier during that time and I kinda learned my lesson. After I think of it then I tell myself ok, then what about when it’s over? I’ll most likely finish Whole30, but let me just tell you how badly I want mexican food or bread.

One recipe that’s quick is any kind of fish covered with egg (mixed) and then covered in spices and unsweetened coconut shreds, I coat a baking sheet with some olive oil and then preheat the oven for 400 degrees and put it in for 15 minutes. You can also just do simple seasoned shrimp and a side of broccoli and fruit! I hate meal prepping so much, but I have no choice.

I hope this helps anyone who has any intrest in Whole 30! There is a Whole30 cookbook however I dont have it:) Heres the Whole 30 info

Why I choose to be Pescetarian. . .

First off, I know I’ll get vegans and true vegetarians telling me “you’re not really an animal lover, you’re not even helping, etc.” I love animals so much and cry at the thought of anyone even hurting one. I choose to be Pescetarian because I honestly can’t survive without it (I know I’ll get people who say I can) my blood sugar and my energy will drop fast if I don’t have seafood every 2 days at the least. Trust me. I’ve tried being vegan and my body literally could not take it. Not everyone has to be a veggie. I don’t force it so I don’t think anyone should.

I absolutely don’t eat pork, chicken, beef, lamb, whatever other meat other than seafood. I do think the slaughterhouses inhumanly kill cows and pigs and every animal I’ve seen. I’ve watched many videos and seen tons of pictures of how awful it’s done. My mom would see me in tears after watching them.

People always ask me “well what do you eat then if not meat” like I just eat leaves all day. I still eat eggs, cheese, yogurt (I only use milk for cereal or baking because I’m not fond of the taste) Like I said I love animals so much but I do still have dairy and eggs, I know that isn’t helping the overproduction from people just using the cow but I know I’ll get better and find substitutes throughout my life.
I started becoming Pescetarian slowly starting in 6th grade (7/8 years ago) I have to say PETA helped me and educate me on how animals for makeup, food, and even clothing are inhumanly killed or tortured. I will never buy something with fur, my makeup is cruelty free, I try my best with the food part. The over production of the meat industry is causing more CO2 pollution than the car itself! Look it up. Not only is the meat production creating more pollution, large amounts of it is bad for you. People don’t know or don’t even care that they put hormones in animals to bulk them up faster within a short amount of time to feed the masses. You’re eating chemicals.  For many health reasons people completely cut out red meat, but still have chicken and seafood.

I know many people won’t agree with me or will tell me how I’m still not helping, the point is I do what my body is able to at this point. I hope I haven’t offended anyone.  I would never suggest doing something that your body can’t handle, eating meat or not. Like I said, my body couldn’t handle being vegan. Know your limits and help in any way and that’s all we can do 🙂
