5 ways to de-stress

Hello, everyone! I hope everyone has a great start to their week and I hope it’s a happy and quick week! I’m not ever going to lie to yall and say I don’t get stressed because I do, so I came up with my 5 ways I de-stress to share with Y’all!

  1. Grab some fuzzy socks, a cup of your favorite tea and watch your favorite YouTuber.
  2. Take a warm shower. Grab your favorite body scrub and body wash! Then when you’re done, get your favorite smell good lotion and moisturize your skin. Nothing like smelling good to make you feel a bit better!
  3. Read a book! I love reading religious books or adventure books! Here’s  one book that I just finished and man- it’s worth the read I promise you!
  4. Light a candle. I stock up when Bath and Body Works has their candle sales for this exact reason! I light a candle and read or watch videos- do something YOU like to do.
  5. Pamper yourself. Put on those fuzzy socks, wash your face & apply a mask and just relax! I Make all of my off days my spa day, self-care is very important!

Mint mask // Book // Candle // Aloe fuzzy socks // Lotion

*Make sure if you get the mint mask you put ‘Natasha‘ in the “Where did you hear about us?” Section at checkout for $$ off your next order!*

I hope all of these tips help anyone who needs to de-stress! Like I said, self-care is very important and it’s just as important to do stuff that you like to do when you’re off and have free time!

May Favorites | YouTube Video

Sorry, I didn’t post on Monday! I have had issues with my joints/shoulders and took a break- but I did post this video. I wanted to start a new series every month about my favorites involving skincare, makeup, home items and more! I love trying new products so I know I’ll have new favorites every month to share with Y’all.

This first product is a self-tanner and to be completely honest I didn’t really like it at first.   This ‘Send me Sunshine’ Tanner has a dark color to it… but here’s the catch- it applies on clear! So one thing since it applies on clear was I missed a few areas the first time using it and had bad streaks. I know most people get discouraged after the first time using a product that doesn’t work well but something told me to give it another shot. I so badly wanted to love the product since I did buy it so the second time I did it I loved it! My boyfriend Daniel said, “I think this one works better than the other one” (Which I’ll do a whole post about my self-tanners soon) This tanner only comes in one shade so if you don’t like the color of the first application I’d re-apply the second layer. Did I tell yall how amazing it smells?? Most tanners have a weird smell but this one smells like fruity lotion and feels hydrating! You can get it here.

This Oil is also one of my favorites when it’s time to self-tan. I got the idea from Katey McFarlan to apply oil onto the wrists or any dry areas before applying tanner so it’s not as patchy and noticeable. I use this Ginamarie Herbal E Oil because it’s super affordable plus you can use it all over your body not just for tanning. You can get it here and make sure when you’re checking out, put ‘Natasha‘ in the section “How did you hear about us?” so you can get some $$ off your next purchase!!

I just discovered this scent from Bath and Body works that smells so amazing I bought it in the body wash version and a travel size lotion for my purse. I know it’s not some name brand lotion but I mean it’s to die for and affordable! You can get it here.

I’ve talked about this perfume before in This Post but I can not get over how long-lasting the scent is! All my coworkers ask what I’m wearing and I even gave one of mine away to a coworker because she loved it so much! Plus they give back and who doesn’t love that? You can get the perfume here.

I have dry skin and especially dry lips so I use this Image skin care lip complex that is super thick and hydrating so a little goes a long way! If you have lips that dry easily or crack you’ll need this product. You can get this lip product here.

I can be the laziest person in the world especially when I’m tired, so these Burt’s Bees makeup wipes are perfect for when I don’t want to wash my face because I’m too tired. I still use them to wipe off my makeup before I even wash my face because if I don’t I feel like I’m just moving around soapy makeup on my skin instead of cleaning it. You can get the wipes here.

I don’t know about Y’all, but I love coming home to a room that smells amazing! I have a wax warmer from Yankee Candle but I use the Burt’s Bees soy wax melts because they actually make the room smell, unlike other waxes. Another thing I use to make my room smell good is… (I know so cliche) Bath and Body works Candles. Don’t have to tell me twice when there’s 2 for $24. You can get the wax melts here, and the candles here.

I hope Y’all love this new favorites series! Let me know what items you love or recommend so I can try them!

Favorite Nail Products

Hello! I hope everyone is or had a great Memorial weekend! Today I wanted to talk about what my favorite nail products were.

I’m sure y’all have heard me say countless times about how I have dry skin, so I love using this Herbal E Oil on my cuticles! I’m trying to ball on a budget so I don’t really get my nails done unless I have a special event to go to- so I’d like to call myself a nail polish connoisseur haha! Nothing drives me crazy more than chipping a nail right after painting them. I work with my hands so I’m constantly putting nail polishes to the test.

The drug store nail polish that I love is by Sally Hansen and it’s the Miracle GelI’ve purchased 2 different colors in that line that I love. They don’t chip and they last for days. Like I said I work with my hands so if you don’t then I’m sure they’ll last longer for you. When I say they last for days that means without any chipping. They retail for around $8.

One brand that I absolutely love (if you can find it) is Odeme. I bought this green color called Oz in the picture and it lasts so dang long! One thing I was guilty of was not applying a base coat so when I took the polish off it stained my nails yellow-which freaked me out at first! It is such a pigmented color and even 1 coat looks really good. I bought this from a local boutique called Beehive which I’ll link here. If you want to purchase this brand of polish online you can click here to go to their website. This polish retails for $12.

I had acrylic nails for years, so my nails became very thin. One thing that I don’t see a lot is biotin in womens’ daily vitamins so when I saw these 365 vitamins from Whole Foods have them I had to get them! I’ve always had to buy a separate bottle of vitamins to help grow strong nails so I’m happy I found these.

I hope this helps y’all with any nail polish or nail care questions! It’s always great to get your moneys worth from nail polishes that don’t chip and to take care of your nails with vitamins!

Crockpot Cooking: Chicken Chili

  • 2 cups of corn
  • 1 can of black beans, drain juice
  • 1 can of pinto beans, drain juice
  • 1 jalepeno shopped (leave seeds in or out depending on what you want)
  • 1 stick of celery chopped
  • 1 cup chopped carrots
  • 1/4 chopped red onion
  • 14oz of peeled tomatoes (blended a bit, because they might be in chunk form)
  • 3 lbs of chicken (tenders or breasts)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cumin
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1-2 tsp chili powder to your liking
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Once you’ve chopped up everything, add all the spices and veggies together. I like to place the chicken on the bottom of the crockpot, because all of the juices will soak into it making the chicken taste better! Then you put your Crockpot on low until chicken is ready. I usually leave everything cooking for about 3-4 hours just to have the flavors mix together, once done shred chicken.I love making this for my family because they’re all meat lovers so this is a healthier option than beef.

Pair with some jalepeno corn bread and some fresh avacado topings then enjoy!

Confetti cookies

These cookies tasted amazingggg!! I bought the cookie cutters from the dollar section at Target for $3; Even though they expanded once baked, they were still cute!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons hot water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup mixed sprinkles/funfetti of your choice

Basically mix all of that together and then let it chill in the fridge for about 30 minutes. Once you do that set your oven for 350 and spray the cookie sheet with oil. Then, once the 30 minutes is up I grabbed a baseball sized amount of the cookie dough, sprinkled some flour on the counter (so the cookies wouldn’t stick/fall apart once I picked them up) and flattened it out and then grabbed a cookie cutter and then placed the cut out onto the pan. Repeat until there’s no more space on the pan! Since my cookies were on the medium-big sized I put them in the oven for 15-20 minutes, but if you’re just having regular sized cookies I’d suggest about 10 minutes instead. My whole family LOVED these, I hope y’all do too!

Homemade Cinnamon rolls

So I decided to make these cinnamon rolls because.. I mean who doesnt love them? In all honesty I messed up with the  filling- I mixed the butter sugar and cinnamon all together when I was supposed to coat the rolled out dough with butter and THEN sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over it. It was still tasty though so it’s all good!

Dough:
1/4 -ounce package yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup scalded milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter or shortening
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg
3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour

cinnamon filling:
1/2 cup melted butter, plus more for pan
3/4 cup sugar, plus more for pan
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

icing:
4 tablespoons butter
2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 to 6 tablespoons hot water

Preheat oven to 350 and then In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and put to the side. In a large bowl mix milk, sugar, melted butter, salt and egg. Add 2 cups of flour and mix until smooth. Add yeast mixture. Mix in remaining flour until dough is easy to handle. Knead dough on lightly floured surface for 5 to 10 minutes.

Roll out on a floured surface into a 15 by 9-inch rectangle. Spread melted butter all over dough. (That’s where I messed up but still tasted good!) Then Mix sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over buttered dough. Next you role up dough and pinch edge together to seal. Cut into 12 to 15 slices (just picture how they’re in slices like out of the canned cinnamon rolls)

Coat the bottom of baking pan with butter and sprinkle with sugar. Place cinnamon roll slices close together in the pan and let rise until dough is doubled, about 45 minutes. While they’re cooking you can start making the icing..mix butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Add hot water 1 tablespoon at a time until the glaze reaches desired consistency, and then add to rolls once theyre ready!

Rolled up

Icing

They defiantly look homemade but they were so good! The dough ended up being perfectly flakey right out of the oven and my family loved them! Happy baking 🙂

Days Off

Now that the semester is over and I’m getting use to having extra time to relax I wanted to post about what I do on my days off of school and life!

Ok- so anyone who knows me I will do anything to avoid cleaning, but lately I make sure I do a deep clean of my room once a week. I force myself to. Put on some good music and get to it! I read somewhere about cleaning that if you don’t know where to start, start with your bed and work from there because once it’s fixed you can see what else needs to be cleaned! One extra thing that makes me want to clean my room is buying decor, because why have cute decor and have a messy room?!

Here’s the places I shop for decor:

Now to beauty! When I know I’ll be cleaning or cooking all day I’ll deep condition my hair first! I know that sounds weird but trust me. I have a lot of blonde in my hair (natural hair is dark brown) so I have to take care of it! I use this after I get my hair wet and mainly put it on my ends but also the middle! I have the 16oz one and it’s been lasting me for about 2 months already and I still have a lot left. Now with skin, I wash my face and put this on to catch up on moisturizer my skin! I have definitely seen a difference with this! I have dry skin mostly around my T zone and this moisturizer is so awesome with fixing it. When I don’t moisturize my skin for a while I will surely notice it when my skin starts peeling-ew. So since it’s your day off and you’re taking care of your skin you probably aren’t wearing makeup, so clean your brushes! I make sure I clean them once a week and you’ll see a difference with your skin. I use eye makeup remover and dawn. Any eye makeup remover would work and Dawn is everywhere! It just gets allllll the junk out and makes them clean!

One thing I LOVE doing is cooking/baking! Everytime I grocery shop I always get the ingredients to make something. I have to! I find it relaxing and really fun, but I love to do it to prepare to be the best girlfriend ever 😉 I use to paint but lately this is my creative outlet! Be sure to check out my cooking category for recipes!
What do y’all do on your days off?

XOXO, Natasha.
