How to deal with negative people & things

Have you ever had someone tell you something completely rude? Have you ever had a rude coworker? I can raise my hands for both. Another thing is that when I see what awful things are happening in this world, I hurt. We’re allowed to get our feelings hurt from rude people, and we’re allowed to be sad from the world issues.

But how do I stay positive??

Rude people:

Whenever people get sarcastic with me or just flat out rude, I take a second to breathe and try to understand why they’re acting this way toward me. Trust me that reaction of mine didn’t happen overnight. I had to work on being still during a moment like that. I work in retail, so when I have a customer give me attitude or just being rude I try to find out the issue and try my best to fix it. If you can’t help someone then you’ll have to know that it’s okay and you tried. You’re not responsible for people’s unhappiness so don’t take it personal.
One thing I was taught years ago was to not judge anyone or assume anything because you never know what their day/life is like. I take every opportunity (the best I can) to shine some light. Remember no one is perfect and even we have our bad days. I’m not going to lie, when there’s just no way that a person will be nice I just tell myself “This is God’s daughter/son and he loves them so I need to show some love no matter what.”

When bad things happen:

Yes, we all deserve to be sad or upset whenever something bad happens. I had a crappy day last week where I just got so tired of struggling and seeing other people struggle that I just wanted to cry. Instead, I took a few deep breaths and told myself it could be way worse and God will help me and us through this. I’m always blessed to have a healthy family, a roof over my head, and a job I love so things will be okay. When I see bad things happen around the world it hurts my heart and it makes me angry and sad. I think so many people make decisions based on what they want and what’s best for them that they just forget about everything and everyone else in the world. Y’all I honestly get sad when I hear that trash is in the sea and it’s bad for turtles. I wasn’t kidding when I said things make me sad. The only thing we can do is our best and that’s it. One person can’t change the world, but if everyone does the best they can the world will be fabulous!

What to wear for Valentine’s

I originally was going to do one huge post about where to eat, and what to wear for Valentine’s, but this is such a fun post that I had to do it separately. I always come up with a reason to have fun or to celebrate something so even if you’re not dating go out with your friends! All of these items are under $100, and you can wear the items after Valentine’s too!

Black dress | Blue dress Off the shoulder rose dress | Off the shoulder red dress | Pink dress
Rhinestone flats | Red heels | Black heels | Pink heels | Black wrap flats

Tassel earrings Pink drop earrings Pink Rhinestone earrings

love the blue embroidered off the shoulder dress. It’s not only perfect for valentines but for spring! My favorite out of these shoes is the black heels, just because it’s similar to the Valentino heels that are over $900! Most of these items are trending, but to me, they won’t ever go out of style.

Stay tuned for my ‘Where to eat’ for valentines coming soon!

Where to Houston

Houston is growing so much and is filled with so many amazing cultures, no matter what part of Houston you go to you’ll find something great! I’ll be telling you about the coolest mom and pop shops, restaurants and places to go!

So to start off, my FAVORITE place to go for coffee is a2ndcup. I get the toffee coffee. Not only does this place have good coffee, it helps raise awareness about sex trafficking! Everyone is so nice, you’ll love it.

Everyone loves icecream right?! FatCatCreamery has regular icecream AND vegan icecream. I believe the flavors are different everyday, but you can’t go wrong with their unique flavors.

Y’all. Brasil Cafe is a need. If anyone in Houston hasn’t eaten here, you need to. They have good pizza, but I usually get the butternut squash and habanero tamales with an arugula salad- it’s heaven!! Also, CommonBond Cafe is right across the street if you want amazing pastries!

Now let’s talk about shopping. A little gem is Casa Ramirez in the heights. They have tons of Latin/Hispanic gifts, books, art, you name it!

Let’s talk about free! The Contemporary Arts Museum  and Menil collection  are some really good places to go. The contemporary arts museum changes its collections often, so it’s a great place to always go back to! The Menil has different sections of art that’s sometimes thousands of years old, to modern and cultural art.

Montrose has tons of cute resale shops and antique stores back to back, so you can make it a day there! Especially if you eat at Brasil Cafe.

Rice Village  is basically a mini mall. They have Half Price bookstore, small boutiques, and affordable restaurants all around. You can’t go wrong visiting, or walking the little trail around Rice University!

Wherever you go in Houston you’re bound to have fun, and good food! I hope y’all enjoyed this post for future Houston trips, or just to get to know HTown more.
