5 ways to de-stress

Hello, everyone! I hope everyone has a great start to their week and I hope it’s a happy and quick week! I’m not ever going to lie to yall and say I don’t get stressed because I do, so I came up with my 5 ways I de-stress to share with Y’all!

  1. Grab some fuzzy socks, a cup of your favorite tea and watch your favorite YouTuber.
  2. Take a warm shower. Grab your favorite body scrub and body wash! Then when you’re done, get your favorite smell good lotion and moisturize your skin. Nothing like smelling good to make you feel a bit better!
  3. Read a book! I love reading religious books or adventure books! Here’s  one book that I just finished and man- it’s worth the read I promise you!
  4. Light a candle. I stock up when Bath and Body Works has their candle sales for this exact reason! I light a candle and read or watch videos- do something YOU like to do.
  5. Pamper yourself. Put on those fuzzy socks, wash your face & apply a mask and just relax! I Make all of my off days my spa day, self-care is very important!

Mint mask // Book // Candle // Aloe fuzzy socks // Lotion

*Make sure if you get the mint mask you put ‘Natasha‘ in the “Where did you hear about us?” Section at checkout for $$ off your next order!*

I hope all of these tips help anyone who needs to de-stress! Like I said, self-care is very important and it’s just as important to do stuff that you like to do when you’re off and have free time!

10 Drugstore Products You Should Try

Happy Monday Y’all! I ran a poll on Twitter about what type of blog posts Y’all like the most and beauty/skincare and affordable stuff were the top picks- so I’ll be doing more of those! I feel like the thing everyone deals with is the cost of skincare/beauty products being high for something that’s not too great. I’m showing Y’all my favorite items from the drugstore (Target, Ulta, Walmart, etc.).

The Biore nose strips are so good! Daniel has oily skin so he uses these and it works so well- not really on my skin because I don’t have as many black heads but if you do and you have oily skin I’d recommend these. You can get them Here.

The Wet and Wild liquid eyeliner is good if you want to find a great drugstore liner. I personally like the felt tip liners but this one is black, easy to use and doesn’t run. You can get it Here.

I gave into all the YouTube hype and got the Butter Bronzer and Y’all… it smells like coconut and just a summer smell! It isn’t super dark to where you overload it but it is build able and literally feels like butter in the pan and on your face. You can get it Here.

I got really curious one day to try drug store moisturizer so this E.L.F one caught my eye. Not going to lie I was kinda scared cuz I hear drug store moisturizers can feel greasy on your skin but I put a few drops of the Herbal E Oil from Ginamarie Products and it was such a good/cheap moisturizer! I wouldn’t say it’s my holy grail but it’s good for the price and it didn’t break my face out. You can get the E.L.F moisturizer Here and the Ginamarie oil Here but make sure when you’re checking out you put the name ‘Natasha’ in the spot where it asks “How did you hear about us?” To get $$ off your next purchase!

I love these Burts Bees cucumber face wipes! I like the Neutrogena ones too but Burts Bees are one of my forever favorite brands- I even love their chapstick because not a lot works for my skin. You can get them Here.

This Oh My Gloss from Rimmel really surprised me. I’m usually not a fan of glosses because they’re sticky and don’t really hydrate. This one is light, not sticky, and hydrates my lips! You can get it Here.

I love a good face scrub and I love finding an affordable one! Everyone says such great things about Mario Badescu so this face scrub would be perfect to exfoliate and get any dead skin off and smooth out your skin.. plus it smells like strawberries! You can get it Here.

I remember trying this Double Extend mascara for the first time back in junior high (cringe worthy makeup) but I forgot how much I loved it! I’m a strong believer in priming your eyelashes then applying mascara so you get 2 for 1 price with this! You can get it Here.

I know a lot of people are starting to use micellar water to take off makeup- not that I have anything against it but why not use witch hazel? It tones your face and has healing properties for if your skin is in the middle of a breakdown or if you have any skin issues. I’ve loved using this for many years and I swear by it to heal any breakouts! You can get it Here.

Lastly, one of my favorite drug store finds ever is this E.L.F perfect HD finish powder. I kid you not this stuff makes your foundation and makeup stay in place all day and it doesn’t have a cake look at all! I did love my Laura Mercier translucent powder, but the price wasn’t my favorite since I go through it so fast. You can get the E.L.F powder Here

I hope Y’all try out these products! Let me know if you have any favorite drug store products I should try!

Favorite Nail Products

Hello! I hope everyone is or had a great Memorial weekend! Today I wanted to talk about what my favorite nail products were.

I’m sure y’all have heard me say countless times about how I have dry skin, so I love using this Herbal E Oil on my cuticles! I’m trying to ball on a budget so I don’t really get my nails done unless I have a special event to go to- so I’d like to call myself a nail polish connoisseur haha! Nothing drives me crazy more than chipping a nail right after painting them. I work with my hands so I’m constantly putting nail polishes to the test.

The drug store nail polish that I love is by Sally Hansen and it’s the Miracle GelI’ve purchased 2 different colors in that line that I love. They don’t chip and they last for days. Like I said I work with my hands so if you don’t then I’m sure they’ll last longer for you. When I say they last for days that means without any chipping. They retail for around $8.

One brand that I absolutely love (if you can find it) is Odeme. I bought this green color called Oz in the picture and it lasts so dang long! One thing I was guilty of was not applying a base coat so when I took the polish off it stained my nails yellow-which freaked me out at first! It is such a pigmented color and even 1 coat looks really good. I bought this from a local boutique called Beehive which I’ll link here. If you want to purchase this brand of polish online you can click here to go to their website. This polish retails for $12.

I had acrylic nails for years, so my nails became very thin. One thing that I don’t see a lot is biotin in womens’ daily vitamins so when I saw these 365 vitamins from Whole Foods have them I had to get them! I’ve always had to buy a separate bottle of vitamins to help grow strong nails so I’m happy I found these.

I hope this helps y’all with any nail polish or nail care questions! It’s always great to get your moneys worth from nail polishes that don’t chip and to take care of your nails with vitamins!

Where to Houston

Houston is growing so much and is filled with so many amazing cultures, no matter what part of Houston you go to you’ll find something great! I’ll be telling you about the coolest mom and pop shops, restaurants and places to go!

So to start off, my FAVORITE place to go for coffee is a2ndcup. I get the toffee coffee. Not only does this place have good coffee, it helps raise awareness about sex trafficking! Everyone is so nice, you’ll love it.

Everyone loves icecream right?! FatCatCreamery has regular icecream AND vegan icecream. I believe the flavors are different everyday, but you can’t go wrong with their unique flavors.

Y’all. Brasil Cafe is a need. If anyone in Houston hasn’t eaten here, you need to. They have good pizza, but I usually get the butternut squash and habanero tamales with an arugula salad- it’s heaven!! Also, CommonBond Cafe is right across the street if you want amazing pastries!

Now let’s talk about shopping. A little gem is Casa Ramirez in the heights. They have tons of Latin/Hispanic gifts, books, art, you name it!

Let’s talk about free! The Contemporary Arts Museum  and Menil collection  are some really good places to go. The contemporary arts museum changes its collections often, so it’s a great place to always go back to! The Menil has different sections of art that’s sometimes thousands of years old, to modern and cultural art.

Montrose has tons of cute resale shops and antique stores back to back, so you can make it a day there! Especially if you eat at Brasil Cafe.

Rice Village  is basically a mini mall. They have Half Price bookstore, small boutiques, and affordable restaurants all around. You can’t go wrong visiting, or walking the little trail around Rice University!

Wherever you go in Houston you’re bound to have fun, and good food! I hope y’all enjoyed this post for future Houston trips, or just to get to know HTown more.

Christmas Spirit

I’m proud to say that I’ve finished my Christmas shopping! This is the first year that I didn’t know what to get for most of the people on my list, but that just makes the gifts so much better! I know Christmas seems like it’s all about presents and spending money but I just love the spirit it brings. Things like people getting a little bit nicer, you get to see family, and have fun! This year I may or may not be attempting to make tamales for my first time but I love challenges!

I put a few festive and inexpensive items together to show your Christmas spirit! Forever21 has a lot of cute Christmas sweaters that are under $30. Although I do love hitting up a thrift store and finding vintage Christmas sweaters! I can’t even say how many times I’ve had hot chocolate, but I promise it tastes better in a Christmas mug! Plus a mug for under $5 is a deal. Anyone who knows me will tell you that no matter what my age is I will rock a onesie, and I’m loving this tree one from H&M! I need this cat sweater. I love black cats and own one so I need to represent lol. I’m pretty sure y’all know bath and body works has great candles so I’ll end that there. Go stock up!

Christmas Picks 2016

I can’t EVEN! It’s already November.. I haven’t shopped at all for Christmas presents, I don’t know where to even begin. I usually Christmas shop in July or August so don’t end up rushing, yet here I am this year doing just that!

It’s a tradition to always get yourself Christmas pjs right? I’m loving these ‘Ok, but first presents’ set from Nordstrom! I’m always the 1st person up because I’m excited for Christmas breakfast and presents. One thing I want so bad is the kitchen aid stand up mixer but I also don’t need to be dropping $300 on a kitchen mixer right now. So I picked a similar one for HALF the price! Fellas, get this if your lady loves cooking. Also, every girl needs a nice pair of boots! The ones below are simple and will go great whether you’re running errands or dressing them up.

The cliché handyman set is a must. I know guys love fixing things, even if they  just mount the tv on the wall to watch football, they’ll love it! This skin care set is a DEAL! Three 3oz tubes and a facial bar for $50. That’s not some small tubes, that’s a full size! Also I know there’s a few things the guys in my family can not live without so I added those in this post too!

Most importantly, there’s gift ideas for the ladies, men, and couples! Nothing like a monogrammed blanket for a couple to cuddle up with by a fire drinking hot cocoa! Every newlywed couple or just everyone in general needs a $20 crock pot, because I mean it’s just $20!? At least that’s why I bought myself one and love it. Kitchen products are a necessity for couples who are living on their own, so it’s a perfect gift!

Confetti cookies

These cookies tasted amazingggg!! I bought the cookie cutters from the dollar section at Target for $3; Even though they expanded once baked, they were still cute!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons hot water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup mixed sprinkles/funfetti of your choice

Basically mix all of that together and then let it chill in the fridge for about 30 minutes. Once you do that set your oven for 350 and spray the cookie sheet with oil. Then, once the 30 minutes is up I grabbed a baseball sized amount of the cookie dough, sprinkled some flour on the counter (so the cookies wouldn’t stick/fall apart once I picked them up) and flattened it out and then grabbed a cookie cutter and then placed the cut out onto the pan. Repeat until there’s no more space on the pan! Since my cookies were on the medium-big sized I put them in the oven for 15-20 minutes, but if you’re just having regular sized cookies I’d suggest about 10 minutes instead. My whole family LOVED these, I hope y’all do too!
